Depends on tune, but 8lbs safely. Good for 500-550 hp.

this
Its all about the tune.
I have heard most guys change the main bolts out to arp studs and pour the boost to them but I've never personally done one. What kind of pistons do they have, what's the comp ratio?

I hear about changing rod bolts

I think the LQ9 is 10:1

This type of statement bugs me,almost as much as horsepower ratings on engine internal parts.... there is no `safe`number as far as boost goes, I have seen people blow them up on 7 lbs and I personally have ran 18.5 with no issues.

These numbers are for a 9.5-1 engine (LQ4,5.3 etc)

rod bolts are pretty well a requirement in my eyes but we have (numerous times now) made well north of 550 rwhp and somewhere around 800rwhp as the most on a stock bottom end ls engine.

It truely is all in the tune deuce.

^ What he said
7 psi, if left to rattle and detonate because of a bad tune, will make it sound like both barrels of a shotgun going off under the hood when both headgaskets let go.
It's funny I feel the same about "good to xxx horsepower" ratings after looking at trans parts. One builder claims their trans is good for 600hp not caring what its in, the next cares what the gears are and the power adder, the next guy asks about the weight and the gearset.
My new philosophy is that the guy who asks the most questions gets my money
